Geosciences Division is set to recommence the field programs this month after the temporary cessation due to the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) protocols over the entire Zamboanga Peninsula in March 2020. The Hydrogeological Assessment Program and Geohazard Updating and Vulnerability Assessment Program will continue its fieldwork activities in the Municipality of Salug and Olutanga Island respectively on July 22, 2020. The Ground Subsidence Hazard Assessment will push through in Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur by the third week of July. The IEC Program of the VRA is also expected to begin this month in the municipalities of Katipunan, Manukan, Jose Dalman in Zamboanga del Norte.
These field programs are part of the 2nd-semester targets of 2020. As part of conducting fieldwork under the “New Normal”, minimum health and safety protocols will be observed such as wearing a face mask, maintaining a safe distance during courtesy visits and interviews and washing hands during the duration of the field activities.
